I am officially in Columbia! It feels great to be back in a place with people on the street! Not to say I always want to talk to those people…some make me grip my pepper spray more than others. But there are actually people on the street that will give you the time of day!
I’m also back in such a diverse and amazing place. Since Wednesday I’ve talked with people from the following places; China, Jamaica, Germany, Japan, Korea, Africa, Brazil, France, Brazil, Puerto Rico, Mexico, England, and even Idaho. What a small world we live in.
It’s incredible the diversity that is found here. I’ve talked with several Buddhists and a couple Muslims already and many, many, MANY baptists. I love baptists.
We’ve talked to pastors, preachers, evangelists and so forth! I love it! People know Jesus Christ and they are not ashamed of The Gospel! Unfortunately many are very difficult to teach because their hearts are hard and not open to an answer from God that the fullness of The Gospel is found in The Book of Mormon.
We had lovely chat with a guy named Xavien from Jamaica. He did most of the talking. The crazy thing was he basically taught us the Restoration (Minus the restoring The Gospel part) when we invited him to know for himself that Joseph Smith was a prophet and the Book of Mormon is true he declined. Saying he would never join a church because it limits him and we were limited by our church.
What came out of my mouth next taught me more about revelation than anything I’ve ever heard. It was definitely The Spirit speaking. Not me. I said, “You’re right. I am limited, but I am not limited by my church or my religion. I am limited by God. I go where He tells me to go and do what He wants me to do. He has guided me here and told me that The Gospel of Jesus Christ was restored and that The Book of Mormon is true. My testimony and my beliefs are not given to me by the church, they are given to me by God. So please find your answer from God, not from your own opinions or conclusions.”
Then we left.
And were greeted by a happy go lucky escaped Bulldog which completely lifter our spirits and brought us into contact with 3 different families as we tried to find his home. I felt very blessed by the sweet little dog named Oliver.
I love this Gospel. I know that if we get our answers from God then we will never waver. I leave you with one of my favorite scriptures,
“And now, my sons, remember, remember that it is upon the rock of our Redeemer, who is Christ, the Son of God, that ye must build your foundation; that when the devil shall send forth his mighty winds, yea, his shafts in the whirlwind, yea, when all his hail and his mighty storm shall beat upon you, it shall have no power over you to drag you down to the gulf of misery and endless wo, because of the rock upon which ye are built, which is a sure foundation, a foundation whereon if men build they cannot fall.”
I love you all.
P.S. This Saturday Stephanie was baptized!!!!! I wasn’t able to be there, but I was thinking about her alll day and I am so proud of her. She is absolutely wonderful!!! She’s also in wonderful hands in the Woodstock Ward with Sister Sedillo and Sister Bullock. LOVE HER!
