Tom Brady is Pretty Cool

Description: An article I wrote for my mass media and society class. The assignment intended for us to write about readings or expieriences we encountered outside of class during the week.

Date: July 2018

Lately, I have taken to listening to Oprah’s Super Soul Conversations on iTunes. Today I listened to the two episodes dedicated to Tom Brady, the American Football All-Star.

What surprised me was how private Brady has always been. When I really thought about it I realized that I’ve never seen a news story feating him with drunk at some party or crashing on the town.

Tom Brady, it seems, has escaped the media. He opened up about his new biography and book to Oprah and talked about how he did it to create something for his three beautiful children, and wants to use being on TV to influence people for good.

I thought about his and Oprah’s influences and am happy to report I found them to be good. As I listened to Brady’s interview I was so impressed by how honest and spiritual of a person he seems to be.

Almost the entire interview he constantly referred back to his wife and kids. He was always talking about his amazing parents and their marriage which has lasted over 50 years.

He and Oprah both talked about how they felt their purpose in life is to bring some good to the world and they use their influence in the media to do that.

Brady never got riled up or angry, even when Oprah brought up his relationship with his coach and deflatgate. He seems like a legitimately cool and kind person.

It was refreshing to find that the media cannot tarnish everyone.
